Former Prime Minister’s demand to form a judicial commission to investigate the Bannu incident.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Monday expressed fears that he and his wife Bushra Bibi may be sent to a military jail in connection with the May 9 cases.
Speaking to the media during the hearing of the £190 million reference, Khan said, “They intend to send me to military prison for the May 9 incidents.”
Khan accused the Inter-Services Intelligence Agency (ISI) of stealing CCTV footage of the May 9 incidents and condemned the arrest of party (PTI) spokesperson Rauf Hassan.
Addressing Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Tarar’s claims about the conditions in his VIP jail, Khan invited the media to his cell, saying, “If Tarar is telling the truth, he should meet me.”
He lamented the biased treatment of PTI workers detained in military jails and proposed a plan to incarcerate them on similar charges.
He also mentioned that the Tosha Khana reference was given a political color, the cases against Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari were ignored and electoral action was taken against them.
Detailing the alleged judicial assaults and police misconduct against him, Khan referred to the incidents on February 8, March 14, and March 18, saying that he demanded peaceful protests if he was detained.
Khan attributed the country’s economic crisis to the mismanagement of previous governments, highlighting the current account deficit left by the Muslim League-N (N).
The former prime minister asserted that democracy was being violated and questioned the alignment of the Chief Election Commissioner with the PML-N. He further criticized the appointment of Gen (r) Faiz and mentioned an international interview he had conducted from jail.
Khan concluded by rejecting the notion of a technocratic setup as a solution to Pakistan’s crises and advocated transparent elections as the only solution to the country’s challenges. He accused Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi of being a fraud working under higher authorities and instead refused to apologize for his actions, demanding others to apologize.
He also demanded the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the attack on Bannu Aman March.
