On Wednesday, Pakistan deported British journalist Charles Glass for trying to meet former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently in jail. Glass had tried to see Khan in Adiala Jail with Khan’s sister Aleema Khan.

Pakistani police raided the British-American journalist’s residence in Islamabad and told him that his visa had been canceled and that he would have to leave Pakistan within hours.

The police took him from a Pakistani journalist’s residence to his hotel and then to the airport, from where he was sent to the United Arab Emirates.

Dawn newspaper also reported that Charles Glass had tried to meet Imran Khan in Adiala Jail from Aleema Khan a few days ago but was denied access.

Additionally, Geo News reported that Glass had also requested permission from Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to meet Khan, but his request was denied.

Charles Glass had earlier called for the release of Imran Khan and WikiLeaks whistleblower Julian Assange on World Press Freedom Day (May 3), saying they had been jailed for insulting the US.

Meanwhile, Charles Glass’ ouster underscores the ongoing tension surrounding Imran Khan’s imprisonment and highlights the challenges journalists face in navigating sensitive political issues in Pakistan.
