Kamala Harris has the support of Nancy Pelosi as key Democrats lining up to endorse the VP.

Kamala Harris is now the frontrunner to become the Democratic nominee for the most powerful job in the world.

Harris is a 59-year-old California lawyer and the daughter of immigrant educators, one Jamaican and the other Indian. Extremely ambitious, she became her state’s attorney general and eventually a senator. She was the first woman, the first black, and the first South Asian American to hold the office of vice president. While it seems likely that the Trump campaign will focus on lines attacking his race and gender, Barack Obama’s two election victories — despite endless conspiracy theories centered on his heritage — suggest that this is not necessarily the case. Play nice with the voters. And America is definitely ready for a woman in the White House.

Kamala Harris was greeted by applause from her campaign team as she arrived at headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.

She flew to meet her team directly after her first remarks on the White House South Lawn following Joe Biden’s endorsement earlier today.

The Harris campaign raised $81 million in one day.

More than $81 million has been donated to Kamala Harris’ campaign in the 24 hours since the announcement.

A statement from Team Harris said it was the largest amount raised in a 24-hour period for any US presidential candidate, with more than 888,000 donors a day after Biden dropped out. Contributed less than $200.

“Grassroots supporters are passionate and excited to support him as the Democratic nominee,” progressive donation platform ActBlue said on X.

Donors who withdrew their funding over concerns about Biden’s age say they now plan to resume their support for the party.
