Freelancing platform Fiverr has made several accounts “unavailable” in Pakistan due to possible “internet bottlenecks”, activists using the site have said, while rights activists have lamented the issue.
Internet users speculated that these disruptions were the result of the government installing firewalls to monitor and track users. However, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) denied that the issue was caused by the firewall.
Last week, users faced difficulties accessing the social media platform – although X (formerly Twitter) had already been banned for nearly six months across the country citing “security concerns”.
