The actor clashed with parade-goers in Los Angeles after someone appeared to throw water balloons at the car he was riding in.

Danny Trejo was involved in a physical altercation with participants in the Fourth of July parade.

The Machete actor, 80, appeared to fight at a parade in the Sunland-Tojunga neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday, July 4, as shown in videos posted elsewhere on social media.

Videos show Trejo getting out of his car after being hit by a water balloon as he participates in the parade with a vintage convertible. People standing near the actor’s car shouted “No water!” Screaming can be heard. Trejo was outside watching a crowd before stepping out to face a group of people watching from the sidewalk.

The actor was seen throwing a punch in the fight with the crowd and fell to the ground for a while. He can also be seen tossing a nearby lawn chair as people gather to try to break up the fight.

A representative for Trejo did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

According to an eyewitness report from ABC 7 in the Los Angeles area, the incident went on for about 10 minutes before police arrived and the situation cooled down. Before the altercation, Trejo appeared to stop in his car and take selfies with attendees along the parade route, per footage published by ABC 7 .

The outlet spoke with a witness, who said water balloons are common at the parade, but that Trejo seemed upset “because usually, people don’t throw water balloons at the fancy cars when they come. “

Trejo didn’t seem to address the incident on his social media, though he wrote about the holiday on Instagram, “Have fun tonight but be sure to take care of your dogs! Happy #4thOfJuly!”
